Julius J. Paecht, Jr., affectionately known as Butch, entered into rest on December 3, 2022, at his home in Orange. He was the beloved husband of Irene Velardi Paecht. In addition to Irene, Butch leaves his daughter Denise Paecht McCarthy, his sons and their wives Kenneth and Dawn Paecht, Michael, and Diane Paecht; six grandchildren, of whom he was so proud, Michaela (Dillon) McCarthy Horan, Matthew McCarthy, Kenneth (Amy Kulikowski) Paecht, Jr., Kristin Paecht (Dylan) Willette, Jonathon Paecht and Joseph Paecht. He was predeceased by his brother William Paecht and sister Ellen Marazzi.
Butch served in the US Navy. He retired in 1989, as a detective, from the New Haven Police Dept. For the next ten years, he worked as an investigator for the States Attorney’s Office in Milford retiring in 1999. Nothing made him happier than attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events no matter how near or far. His family meant everything to him.
Visitation will take place on Thursday December 8 from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. On Friday morning, his procession will leave the funeral home at 9 o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church at 9:30. Interment, with military honors, will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Autism Society.
