June C. DeLandra

June C. DeLandra, age 90, of West Haven passed away at home with her family by her side on September 11, 2024.  She was born in New Haven, daughter of the late John and Adeline Nuzzo Cestaro.  June is survived by her devoted children, Carol, Luann (Carl), Andrew (Catherine) & Paul (Annette). cherished grandmother of Maureen, William (Erica), Andrew (Samantha) & Zachary (Gabrielle), and loving great grandmother of Juliana, Christopher, Zanetta, Zachary & Kerrington.

June was predeceased by her siblings, Annette, Lawrence (Buddy), and Joyce and her nephew, Louis.

June selflessly devoted her life to her family, friends and her faith. She touched the hearts of all who knew her with her warm charm. Growing up, June had a passion for the piano however, her true artistry happened in the kitchen. It was here that she shared her heart through her cooking. Those welcomed into her home would never leave hungry. Easter pies, Christmas cookies, and wonderful meals were her expressions of love. As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, June was the cornerstone of our family. Don't let her size fool you, June was our pillar of strength and unity focused on the importance of family and its traditional values. There are no words to express the emptiness we feel with her physical passing; however, there is the comfort of knowing she will continue to watch over and protect us as she always has. You only needed to sit with June over a cup of coffee and a pastry to realize what a wonderful and genuine person she was. 

June will be deeply missed, but her memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your love, strength, and generosity will never be forgotten. You will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we will continue to honor you by living our lives with the same grace and love that you showed us. Thank you for being such a shining example of goodness and kindness. You will be forever missed, never forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII Parish at 10am.  Interment will be private.
