June Ruth (Simpson) Gortler, age 78, passed on September 4th, 2021 in West Haven, Connecticut, surrounded by her family. Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband of more than 22 years, Ralph Gortler, her daughter, Barbara, her sons, Gregory and Philip, Jr., her father, Louis Simpson, Sr., her mother, Alice (Haupert) Husley, and her brother, Robert Simpson. Ruth is survived by her brothers, Louis Simpson, Jr., and Martin Wheeler, her children, Cheryl (Robert)Davis, Dana (Gloria) Meunier Robin (Timothy) Davis and Donna (Wayne) Garlock , 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, as well as a long-time and dear friend, Alice Torres of Florida.
After residing in Ocala, FL for over 31 years, Ruth returned to Connecticut to be with her family. While in Florida, she enjoyed visiting the Seminole Reservation on numerous occasions. She loved all animals, especially elephants. Throughout her life, Ruth was a hard worker, including her many years at The Kimberly Diner in Milford and Walmart in Ocala, in addition to earning her accounting degree after her children had grown. She enjoyed listening to country music immensely, working on word puzzles, and watching game shows.
