Lawrence Festa (78), husband of Trudy since 1969, of West Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
Larry was born on January 30, 1947 in New Haven, CT to the late Alexander and Mary (Bartozzi) Festa. He was a lifelong resident of West Haven, and a graduate of West Haven High School - go Blue Devils. Prior to his marriage to Trudy, Larry served in the Army Reserves completing his basic training outside of Seattle, Washington. He went on to take college courses in accounting and held various accountant positions in local manufacturing companies over the years, most notably for Winchester Repeating Arms in New Haven.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived and will be dearly missed by his three children, Tracey (Joe) Bayusik, Steven (Jessica) Festa, and Lauren (Billy) Festa-Berg; grandchildren Kayla and Cameron Bayusik, Madeline and Gabriella Festa, and Chelsea Berg; his sister Kathleen (Irving) Dittmann; his uncle John Bartozzi; and many amazing nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins and friends. Family, and making the most of the time spent with each other, was of the utmost importance to Larry. Although a man of few words, his presence and actions spoke volumes.
In addition to cherishing time spent with his family, Larry was a lover of music (particularly doo-wop) and shared this passion as a way of bringing people together - whether listening at the house or attending a local show. He also enjoyed cars, great food and diners, long drives, casinos and sports. For many years, he held the title of coach - teaching soccer and sportsmanship to the youth of West Haven. As a fan of hockey, he cheered on the New York Rangers - no matter how good or bad. Over years of family vacations, he perfected the art of making every day count, visited countless amusement parks and enjoyed many Virginia Beach sunrises and sunsets.
We love you Larry (Hun, Dad, Poppy, Brother, Uncle). Rest easy and say hello to the rest of the family - we know they are with you.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at West Haven Funeral Home and may attend a Mass on Friday at 10am at St. Louis Church 89 Bull Hill Ln. West Haven CT.
