Lewis W. “Buddy” Shippy Sr., 71, of West Haven, entered into eternal rest on June 11, 2025.
Lewis was also known by many as Chip and Louie. Born in New Haven on July 24, 1953, a son of the late Allie Sr. and Mary (Lynch) Shippy. Survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Maryann (Bialobrzeski) Shippy; son Lewis (Jaime) Shippy, Jr.; daughter Colleen (Ernesto) Amaro; grandchildren Zach Shippy, Aidan Amaro, Evan Shippy, and Eli Amaro; sister Donna MacNeil; brothers-in-law John Brandt, Roger Barnes, Ulrich Kranzl, and Stanley (Rosemary) Bialobrzeski and many nieces and nephews. Lewis was preceded in death by sisters Nancy Kranzl, Deborah Brandt, and Joan Barnes; and brothers Richard, Larry, John “Jack” and Allie Shippy Jr.
Lewis was a motorcycle enthusiast who was happiest on his riding adventures. His love of animals was matched only by his passion for watching Western movies and TV shows. His greatest joy of all was fishing with his grandchildren.
Arrangements were entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday morning, June 18, 2025, from nine to eleven o’clock. His memorial service will commence in the funeral parlor at eleven o'clock. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Avenue, West Haven, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lewis’s name may be made to the West Haven Animal Shelter, 7 Collis Street, West Haven CT 06516.
