Louis J. Bernardo, 75, of West Haven, died on December 13, 2025, after a prolonged battle with dementia. Born in New Haven on April 3, 1950, he was the son of Josephine Melotti Bernardo and the late John Bernardo.
Louis is survived by his mother Josephine Bernardo; son Louis "Little Louie" Bernardo Jr.; daughter Daniela (Kevin) Bruneau; grandchildren J.P. Wayne III, R.J. Bruneau, and Selena Norton, brother John Bernardo; sisters Annette (Mark) Lamano, Barbara Doyle, and Alma Germe; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Louis was predeceased by his sister Joanne Bernardo.
Louis retired from Southern New England Telephone after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He was a gentle soul, best remembered for his empathy and kind nature. He enjoyed trips to Sports Haven and various casinos, but his greatest joy was found in simple pleasures of life - especially time spent with his family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St John XXII Parish, St. John Vianney Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered in Louis's memory to the Dementia Society of America.
