Maria M. Batista passed away on April 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Maria will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and deeply loving woman who put her family above all else. She found joy in caring for her home, often spending time cleaning and creating a warm, welcoming space for those she loved. Her home was a reflection of her heart—full of comfort, peace, and love. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother and mother-in-law, and a proud and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy and her proudest accomplishment. Maria’s strong faith in God guided her life and gave her strength, especially during her illness. She carried herself with grace, resilience, and unwavering love, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Angel Batista. She is survived by her children, Angela (David), Erica (Mark), Angelo, and Michael; her cherished grandchildren, Christian (Angela), Bryanna (Eric), Aidyn, Ethan, Eliana, Michael, Brandon, and Blake; and her adored great-grandchild, Audrey.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers who supported Maria throughout her journey. Special thanks to the nurses of VITAS Healthcare (Troy, Andrea, and Mondi); the dedicated staff of the inpatient unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital; as well as Dr. Fenn, Dr. Lynch, Dr. Du, and Dr. Malik; and all the wonderful nurses and staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital in Trumbull for their kindness, care, and unwavering support.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford, Connecticut, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria’s memory to the Norma Pfriem Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered for the love she gave so freely.
