Mary Paula (Huzzen) Beebe, 79, passed away on June 30, 2024. Mary was born in New Haven, Conn., to John and Margaret (Bosco) Huzzen. While still in high school, she met her future husband, Jay, who preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. She listened to their song, “In the Still of the Night,” every night before she fell asleep.
Mary was the loving mother of Bro. Jonathan Beebe, CSC, of Perú, Tara Beebe (Beverly Perry) of Orange, and Scott Beebe of West Haven; the proud grandmother of Danielle (Joseph), Jessica (Devin), Anna, and JP; and great grandmother of Aria (“my Sweet Pea”), Bentley, Camden, and Elyse. Mary also leaves behind her sister and confidante, Barbara Day, of Catlettsburg, Ky., her nieces and nephews, and her many friends, especially Patty, Jackie, and Carol and those from her years at St. Anthony’s (class of 1959). The family will miss her outgoing nature, her “Edith” stories, the ever-present camera, and her Easter pies and Christmas Eve dinners. Mom, that was the last batch of Christmas cookies!
The family thanks her caregivers from Connecticut Hospice, particularly Carrie and her furry friend, Blue. Donations can be made in Mary’s name to the Little Rascals Rescue, 311 Old Whitfield St., Guilford, Conn., 06437, as Mary will be waiting on the Rainbow Bridge to be reunited with Cuddles, Annie, Whitney, and Bella who were never absent from her heart.
Visitation will take place on Sunday July 7, 2024 from 2 to 5 pm. On Monday morning the procession will leave the funeral home at 9 o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Louis Church of St. John XXIII Parish at 9:30. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
