Mary Frances (Carney) Carone

Mary Frances Carone, age 89, of West Haven, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was born in New Haven, the daughter of the late Harold and Frances Carney.  Mary is survived by her loving children: her devoted daughter and caretaker Mary Ellen Carone, Nicholas Carone and his wife Mary Anne, Donna Teofilo and her husband Robert, James Carone, Anthony Gambardella and William Carone and his wife Ann; her 9 cherished grandchildren: Nicole (Brian) Stackpole, Nicholas Carone Jr, Christopher Carone, William (Nowen) Carone, Andrea (Christopher) Hayward, Michelle (Donald) Saraniero, Eric Teofilo, Brittany Gambardella, and Ryan Carone; 9 adoring great grandchildren and her sister Margaret “Peggy” Andriotes.  Mary was predeceased by her daughter Carol Gentile and her brother Harold “Tuffy” Carney. 

For many years, Mary was a bartender/waitress at the old Lombardi’s in New Haven.  However, she was at her happiest when she was taking care of her grandchildren – whether it be picking them up from school, watching them during the day, or taking care of them while parents were on vacation. Her greatest accomplishment was her family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00am – 10:30am at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Victory Church,300 Captain Thomas Blvd, West Haven, at 11:00am.  Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.  Masks will be required for all indoor services.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name to Ronald McDonald House at www.rmhc-ctma.org.
