Maryann (Nuzzo) Morrell

Maryann Nuzzo Morrell, age 84, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2023. For 54 years, she was the loving wife of the late Joseph F. Morrell Sr. Maryann was born in New Haven, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Elasko Nuzzo.

She is survived by her children, Shawn and Bill Norton of Queensbury, NY and Joe Jr. and Jackie Morrell of West Haven; Nonnie to Christopher, Taylor and fiancé Jim, Jeffrey and Laura Norton, Jocey and Sal Augliera, Jolie Morrell and fiancé Donny all of West Haven. Maryann is also survived by her sister, Elaine Butler of North Haven. In her final 3 years, Maryann and family were blessed to welcome Annmarie Cohall to the family. Annmarie’s loving care enabled Maryann to spend her last years in the home she loved. 

Prior to her retirement, Maryann was a clerk in the West Haven Tax Office. She was the proudest West Haven Blue Devil sports fan following her son and grandchildren for many years. Maryann was also blessed with having her daughter and family as neighbors supporting her through all stages of life. She supported her husband Joe for 43 years at Shore Haven Jr. Baseball League. Maryann and Joe enjoyed their second home in Aruba, where they were able to relax and live life to the fullest.

The hours for visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16, from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. On Friday morning, family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St John Vianney Church of Saint John XXIII Parish, 300 Capt. Thomas Blvd. West Haven. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.  Donations may be made to Shore Haven Jr. Baseball, 125 Central Avenue, West Haven, in honor of The Joseph Morrell Sr. Scholarship.
