Maureen Meaney McKeon, 94, a lifelong resident of West Haven entered into rest on September 14, 2025 at her home. She was married to the late Edward J. McKeon, Jr. Maureen attended Union School and graduated from West Haven High School where she met her husband Ed. They spent 64 wonderful years together. Their legacy includes three sons and their wives, Michael and Lisa, Patrick and Rita, Thomas and Tabitha; six cherished grandchildren Courtney (Chris) Lawrence, Curtis (Miranda) McKeon, Callan McKeon, Bayley McKeon, Joshua (Mirissa) Cappiello and the late Shannon McKeon, four adored great grandchildren Brooks and Brody Lawrence, Arianna and Luciano Cappiello as well as many nieces and nephews. Maureen is predeceased by her parents William and Mary Callan Meaney, and her siblings Dorothy (Francis) Donnelly and John (Marjorie) Meaney.
Maureen’s working career spanned many decades. Earlier years included SNET, the West Haven Board of Education and culminated in the West Haven Probate Court under Judge Michael Heffernan. Attending the sporting events and school activities of her grandchildren brought great joy to Maureen as she spent countless hours cheering them on. She always waited for them after their game to give them a big hug. Maureen, Ed and the entire family enjoyed years of vacationing on Block Island. Most loved though was entertaining in her beautiful home on the beach in West Shore. Yearly, all were welcomed to a front row seat to the third of July fireworks on her lawn. One of the last of the Lake Street gang, her smile and warm personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was a longtime parishioner of the former Our Lady of Victory Parish.
The McKeon family would like to thank the staff from Yale-New Haven Health Hospice at Home for their compassionate care over the past few years.
The hours for visitation will take place on Thursday, September 18 from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. On Friday morning, the procession will leave the funeral home at 9 o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Vianney Church of St. John XXIII Parish at 9:30.
