THE GREAT AND POWERFUL MIKE
Michael J DiReinzo, 63, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025. Born in New Haven on June 8, 1961, he was the beloved son and only child of Amneris and Anthony DiReinzo. Michael is survived by his children, Lauren Wache, Alex DiReinzo, and Jesse DiReinzo, his granddaughter Adelyn, his partner Kellie Caldwell, and many close friends whom are considered family.
Michael had a love for film that started early and was a passion that he eventually turned into a successful business. He graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a Bachelor in Film and went from creating amateur western movies with his best friends Mark and John using 35mm film to co-owning Photo Pro, a local Southington film processing and development business with his friend Jerry for over 20 years. He eventually closed the doors to the business when digital cameras took over film in 2003. Michael went on to work at the Strand Movie Theater as the Projectionist and Assistant Manager for almost 10 years before eventually finding himself self-employed again selling goods online.
Michael was known for being smart, witty, fun, a patient listener, and a good friend. He was a wiz at random trivia questions, a crazy cat lover, an avid fan of zombies, a great cook, and loved exploring his family’s ancestry. He was the kind of man who would always help a friend in need. A gentle soul.
A private burial will be held with immediate family. An open memorial service will be held on Saturday March 29, 2025 at Orange Center Cemetery at 11:00am where all family and friends are invited to join together to pay their respects and share their wonderful memories of Mike. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s name to Gofundme/search Kellies Wound Care Closet.
