Michael Paul Horton

Michael Horton, age 45, of West Haven passed away suddenly on August 16, 2024.  He was the loving husband of José Gerardo Xochicale Portillo.  Michael was born in Milford, son of David and Diane Giordano Horton of West Haven.  He is also survived by his brothers Thomas (Shanelle) Horton of Southington and Kenneth Horton of West Haven, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Raised in West Haven, Michael attended school at Washington Magnet, Carrigan Middle School and West Haven High School, Class of 1997.  He later attended Housatonic Community College and earned a BS degree in Cyber Security.  In his professional career, he was employed at Biersdorf as a Cyber Security Tech. 

As a young man, Michael was very active in scouting, where he attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.  He was always active in sports as a child, playing Little League baseball. An avid hockey fan, specifically, a passionate Bridgeport Sound Tiger fan, Michael held season tickets for the past 3 years. He enjoyed attending Yard Goats games with his family, loved 80's music, and attending concerts  However, his greatest joy was spending time with Gerardo, going to the movies, shopping and traveling, among some of their favorite adventures.

The hours for visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  Family and friends are invited to go directly to church on Saturday morning at 9:30. for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII Parish.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
