Michael P. Violano, 90, formerly of West Haven, died peacefully on January 20, 2026, in the arms of his beloved wife, Nettie DiReinzo Violano. He is survived by his wife, his daughter Jackie (Joe) Morrell, stepson Alphonse (Maria) Casanova, his son’s wife Cheryl Violano, and his siblings Marie Carfora, Ann Tobia and Pat Violano. Michael also has 3 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Michael “Vio” Violano.
Mick retired from Mite Corp. where he worked as a tool maker. However, his favorite time was working beside his late son Vio at his sports store for many years. It gives our family great comfort knowing they are together again. Mick enjoyed many vacations with family in Green Mountains at the horse track and in the warmth of Aruba. Wherever he went, he was always called “the mayor” making friends and living life to the fullest. He and Nettie moved to the Las Vegas area about 20 years ago as an escape from the harsh New England winters and, of course, to take advantage of the abundance of casinos!
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 27th from 9 to 10:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII Parish at 11 o’clock. Interment of cremains will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to the Michael Violano Scholarship Fund, mailed to Joe Morrell at 34 Sorenson Road, West Haven, CT 06516.
