Mildred Day Cacace, 99, of West Haven, died peacefully on July 24, 2024. Born in Bridgeport on March 28, 1925, a daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Burns Day. She is survived by her stepchildren Jan Busitzky of Minnesota, Josephine “Jody” Raucci and Anthony Cacace of West Haven, daughter-in-law Melanie Cacace; grandchildren Julie Attlesey, Sandy Busitzky and Daniel Raucci; and three great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by husband Daniel Cacace, stepson Michael Cacace, and brothers Douglas and Charles Day.
Mildred had a nurturing personality, which served her well in her healthcare career. She was a nurse at Harborview Manor for 13 years until she retired in 1997. Her caregiving personality wasn’t limited just to people; she also had a special fondness for dogs and cats.
Arrangements have been entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Rite of Committal will be celebrated on Friday, August 9th at 9:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery. Attendees are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
