Nancy W. Brown, 89, of Shelton, died on October 6, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born in Indianapolis, IN on June 28, 1934, a daughter of John and Edna (Bowland) Watts. Nancy is survived by her loving son Scott Brown, daughter Susan (Tammy Petrucelli) Brown; grandchildren Haley (Megan Guidarelli) Brown of Somerville, MA, Erin (Phill Kratzman) Brown of Belfast, ME; nephews Chris (Phyllis) Henry of SC, Mark (Delaine) Henry of Abbeville, LA, Michael (Alisha) Kidd of Hendersonville, NC; and niece Kelsey (Kevin) Kidd Cash of Hendersonville, NC. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters Sally Kidd and Jackie Henry.
Nancy was born in Indianapolis, IN and grew up in the Midwest. She raised her family in Darien, CT. In 1992 she relocated to Hendersonville, NC where both her sisters lived. After 30 years in Hendersonville Nancy recently moved back to CT to be closer to her children and their families.
Nancy was a longtime volunteer at Stamford Hospital. She worked at Landmark Jewelers and the Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center in Stamford. Finally, she joined Chesebrough Ponds/Unilever and worked as a legal secretary until her retirement.
Nancy was funny and friendly with everyone, always offering a kind word. She was an avid sports fan; she enjoyed watching golf (especially if Rory McIlroy was playing), tennis, the NY Mets, and developed a fondness for the Kansas City Chiefs. She always stayed up to date on current events - she looked forward to her evening news program with David Muir.
Nancy had a green thumb and demonstrated a unique ability to revive ailing plants. She appreciated opportunities to get together with her family for holidays, birthdays, or over a meal. She recently developed a fondness for a Dark & Stormy which became her go-to drink at family get-togethers. We raise our glasses to you, with love.
Arrangements were entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. All services were private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
