Patricia Keane Obituary

Patricia Ann Keane of North Branford passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 81.  She was born in Boston, MA where she spent 79 of her 81 years and raised her family in Brockton. She was married to the love of her life Joseph T. Keane for 63 years and she raised three amazing children Joseph R. Keane (her favorite) and his wife Lisa, her unwavering and supportive daughter Karen M. (Keane) Pelliccia and her husband Ron and her son Ronald J. Keane.  Her life was fullest when surrounded by her grandchildren; Dacia (Keane) Doering and her husband Frank, Danica, Dominick, Marcus and Lucca Pelliccia and her great granddaughters Isabella and Aubrey Doering.  Patricia’s pride and joy was her family which includes many, many nieces and nephews not mentioned here. Patricia was predeceased by her four siblings Joseph Mansfield (Brother), Lorretta (Mansfield) Werra, Donna (Mansfield) LePage and Kirk Calley (Dukey).

Patricia was as tough as nails, she had to be after losing her mom at the age of six years old; but she also had a sparkle in her eye, a committed marriage, a strong devotion to her family, a belief in God and the afterlife.  When life gives you lemons, she taught herself how to make lemonade.  She always saw the best side of every situation no matter how traumatic or challenging.  She had known Joseph (Joe) since she was a young girl and they became sweethearts at the age of 15, married at 18.  They shared a beautiful life together despite their challenging upbringings.  They were both industrious workers.  Patricia was a seamstress for most of her career.  She made her children’s clothing, she reupholstered furniture, she made mountains of doll clothes, ponchos, pom-poms for cheerleading, pillows, hats, blankets, if you needed it, she would find a way to make it, especially for her children or grandchildren.  Sadly, Patricia lost her first-born daughter (Sandy) after delivering full term.  After losing her second born granddaughter (Danica) and also her grandson (Dominick), Patricia began making baby blankets which she donated to Yale New Haven Hospital for premature babies.  She made hundreds of blankets and tiny hats for the families surviving premature births and memory boxes for those babies who would never make it home.  That’s the kind of person she was; if you were in her inner circle, she’d give you the shirt off her back even if it were the only thing she had left.  One of the many life lessons she taught her family from the beginning is that the best things in life aren’t ‘things’ at all.  Patricia went on to have three children after losing her first, watching her family and extended family grow over the years; raising many of her nieces and nephews.  Family was her everything.  Those who knew Patricia, knew she was a beautifully simple woman, she knew how to have fun, she rolled with whatever life threw her way, she loved to make you laugh, she loved life, she loved holidays and gift giving, cookouts and parties, she was so strong (trust me on that), yet she was also a lover, a nurturer, an inspiration.  She did it HER way (just like Frank Sinatra sang).

Mom will be sorely missed every day, but we know she’s in a much better place of peace and surrounded by those she loved and lost.  We know it is her time to fly.  Until we meet again, see you in the funnies Nana!
