Paul M. DeFrancesco, “Pauly D.”, 57, a lifelong Westie, passed away on September 9, 2021, with Jeanie by his side. His family includes his love and soulmate Jeanie DeLoughery; his siblings Peter and Suzy DeFrancesco, niece Rylee DeFrancesco, his fur babies Ted Williams and Nixy, and many more family and friends, too numerous to list. Born in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Pauly was the son of Anthony DeFrancesco and the late Patricia Ciarleglio DeFrancesco.
Paul’s cooking career began at Captains Galley, West Haven. He spent many years in the restaurant business, ultimately owning Oyster River Tavern. Currently he worked for Sodexo at the University of New Haven as a chef.
Paul lived life to the fullest. He loved to travel, and his adventures included Oyster River cruises, Vegas, glamping and private jets to football games with the Montano family. For 18 consecutive years, he attended Jamboree in the Hills. He was able to enjoy his final trip to St. Martin with Jeanie in April.
He loved all New York sports, attending and watching games, Yankees, Rangers and Giants.
The hours for visitation will take place on Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. On Tuesday morning the procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church 300 Captain Thomas Blvd. at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. If you are unvaccinated, kindly wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Haven Animal Shelter.
