Philomena Froehlich, 90, of Madison and formerly West Haven, died peacefully on June 12, 2025. Born in New Haven on July 12, 1934, a daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy (Carbone) Vita. Survived by daughter Jennie (Walter Jr.) Smith; son George Froehlich, Jr.; grandchildren Tiffany (Jeff) Scribner; George (Kara) Froehlich III; Gretchen Froehlich; Molly (Darien) Vaughan; and Walter (Erika) Smith III; great-grandchildren Justin Scribner, Nicholas Froehlich, and Jaxon Scribner; and sisters Mary Palumbo and Jennie Vece. In addition to her parents, Philomena was preceded in death by her loving husband George. She is now reunited with her four-legged love, Ranger.
Philomena enjoyed playing Yahtzee with friends and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in car rides with George and had a special love of dogs.
Arrangements have been entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT. Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning, June 19, 2025, from 10 o’clock until 12 noon. A prayer service will be celebrated in the funeral parlor at 12 noon. Interment will immediately follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Avenue, West Haven, CT.
