Phyllis G. (Sagnella) Terrasi, 93, of West Haven died peacefully at home on May 21, 2023. She was born on October 5, 1929, in Fair Haven to Anthony & Mary (Carbo) Sagnella. She was a 1947 graduate of Commercial High School and worked many years at the Knights of Columbus and Commercial Union Insurance Company until her retirement. She was a faithful communicant at St. John Vianney Church, where she served as a religious education teacher, a member of the Ladies’ Guild, and a member and then leader of the weekly Rosary Group.
She married the love of her life, Anthony Terrasi, in 1953 and they enjoyed almost 70 years of happiness together. She was predeceased by her husband only five short months ago. Phyllis leaves behind her daughter Karen (Gary) Hodgdon and her son Anthony P. Terrasi; her loving grandchildren Gary II (Sharon) Hodgdon, Garrett Hodgdon, Jasmine (Grezgorz) Pielecha, and Adrianna (Tim) McCabe, along with great-grandchildren Devin & Kai O’Connor, Joanna Pielecha, and Bodhi & Remi McCabe. In addition to her husband, Phyllis was predeceased by her grandson Grant Eric Hodgdon, her sister Marie and her brother Anthony.
The hours for visitation will take place on Friday, June 2 from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. Her procession will leave the funeral home Saturday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o’clock in St. John XXIII, St. John Vianney Campus, 300 Captain Thomas Boulevard, West Haven. Interment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum, St Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
