Regina Anne Stevens, 93, of Savin Park and lifelong resident of West Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, November 25 surrounded by members of her extended family.
The only child of Kenneth and Anne Stevens (née Holohan), Regina was born at home on Thomas Street on July 2, 1929. Following her birth, the family moved to a new home on Campbell Avenue where Regina continued to reside until 1995.
Regina attended and graduated from Saint Lawrence School/West Haven and Saint John’s School/New Haven. A former member of the New Haven Women’s Club, Regina was employed as an accountant by the Southern New England Telephone Company for more than 30 years, retiring at age 52 in 1981. She was a faithful and active member of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church for more than 62 years, a mainstay of the annual church carnival, member of the Finance Committee and a Eucharistic Minister since 2008. In recognition of her innumerable contributions to church life, she received the Saint Joseph Award for Dedicated Service in 2017.
Well-loved by her many cousins and neighbors, Regina was known for her kindness, perennial sense of humor, penchant for mischief-making and boundless love of the New York Mets. “Acting her age” was something she carefully avoided to the delight of those around her. Whether at a ball game, theatre, travelling or getting together with family and friends, Regina brought life and laughter to all who knew her… and more smiles than she could ever know. Despite being gone from their sight, her spirit lives on in those who were lucky enough to have had her in their lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, ten o’clock, at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 300 Captain Thomas Boulevard, West Haven. Attendees are kindly asked to meet directly at church. Interment will be held privately.
