Richard Minore, 84, of West Haven, entered into rest on December 28, 2023. Richard "Richie" was born in New Haven, eldest son to the late Ralph and Florence Raney Minore. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and went on to receive a degree in automotives from Eli Whitney Technical School, as well as proudly serving in the United States National Guard Reserve. Richie worked for Yellow Freight for more than 40 years before he retired. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the Ladies UConn Girls Basketball teams. His family, friends and neighbors will miss his kindness, generosity and quick wit. He was always the first person to extend a helping hand or to just sit and watch cartoons with his grandkids.
Richard "Richie" leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Ferrara) Minore along with their two sons Mark Minore and Matthew Minore, and their two daughters, Michele Durso (Carmen) and Melissa Minore-Granata (Brandon). Proud Grandfather of Gina Suarez, Samantha Healy, Jami Gildersleeve, Nikki Durso, Zia Durso, Marisa Minore, Tori Granata, Summer Minore and Lilly Granata, and great-grandchildren Juan, Gabriel, William, Onalee, Liabeth, Isabella and Noah. Loving brother-in-law and wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his sister Valerie Minore Polizzo (Robert) and was predeceased by his brother Ralph Minore. Everyone should have a “Richie” in their life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7p.m. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Friday morning at 10:00a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church of St. John XXIII Parish at 10:30a.m. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
