Rita Tannoia Obituary

Heaven gained an angel. Rita May Tannoia, of West Haven passed away suddenly on April 6, 2022. We take solace in knowing she is finally reunited with the love of her life, the late Edward Tannoia. Rita was born in New Haven, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Cody Mellilo.

She is survived by her children, Debra Belisle of West Haven, Edward Tannoia of Hamden, Lynn Tannoia of West Haven, Laurie (Stephen) Morrell of West Haven, and Steven (Maria) Tannoia of Clinton, her 8 grandchildren Bruce, Andrew, Anthony, Stephen, Alyssa, Michael, Amanda and Jenna, and 3 great grandchildren McKenzie, Dillon, and Theodore. Rita was predeceased by her sister Regina “Jean” Manos.

For many years Rita enjoyed working as a lunch aide at Molloy School in West Haven. She loved to tell stories and show photos of her cherished years with her late husband Edward. Rita adored and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Rita’s favorite saying was “Oh well, to each his own” She will forever be missed.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 3-6pm at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday morning at 10am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
