Robert John DeGennaro, lovingly known as “Bob,” a lifelong resident of West Haven, entered peacefully into eternal rest on May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Bob leaves behind a family who loved him deeply, including his daughter Annie (Frank) Casalaina; his cherished grandchildren Anthony Campagnuolo, Jr., Filomena Casalaina, Bryce Hayden, and Avery Hayden; his longtime companion and best friend, Maureen Withington; his stepdaughter Amber (Brian) Hayden; and Aidan Parlee and Richard Biela Jr., whom he loved as his own grandsons. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Carmen and Virginia DeGennaro, and his brother, William DeGennaro.
Bob spent most of his life working in construction, a profession that reflected his hardworking and dependable nature. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family and grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the New York Yankees, trying his luck at the casino, and spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for the people he loved — always with a Diet Coke nearby. Bob also held a special place in his heart for the Special Needs community, showing kindness and compassion to all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII Parish.
