Robert Handley, 77, of West Haven died suddenly at home on December 5, 2025. Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY, one of seven children to the late Tom and Lillian Feig Handley. He proudly served in the US Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War and received several commendations and medals, including one for combat. His rank at discharge was sergeant. In 2008 Bob retired from the State of Connecticut, where he was employed for 20 years as a corrections officer.
Bob’s family includes his son Robert (Heather) Handley, daughter Marianne (Chris) Micknowicz, two grandchildren Robert and Katherine, sisters Eileen (the late John) DiFalco, Kathy (the late Frank) Scalia, his brother Thomas Handley, many nieces, nephews and his cats (the babies). In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sisters Louise Handley and her husband Edward, Roseann Grieme and her husband Kenneth and Anne Williams and Austin.
Bob was a loyal NY Mets fan. From time to time, he was known to enjoy Johnnie Walker, but only the Red!
Visitation will take place on Friday December 12, 2025 from 3 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home. Prayers will begin at 6:30, followed by military honors at 7 pm the funeral home.
