Ronald Joseph Barrows

Ronald Joseph Barrows, 67, of West Haven passed away on April 20, 2025.  Born on December 7, 1957, in Norwich, CT, he is survived by his guardian, Cheryl Hyslop-Antunes and his West Haven Community House family.

Ron became a resident of the West Haven Community House in November 2021. He quickly became known for his warm spirit and many interests. Ron had an appreciation for the Animal Channel, a love for Arts & Crafts, and a passion for listening to music. However, one of his greatest joys was his beloved deck of cards, which he carried with him wherever he went.

Ron attended the SMILE Day Program, where he thrived in a supportive environment that encouraged friendship, daily living activities, and learning new skills. Through this program, Ron also enjoyed participating in community outings that enriched his experiences and brought joy to his everyday life. Additionally, Ron was an active member of Art Expressions with STEP Associates, where he spent Saturdays nurturing his creativity alongside his friends.

In the short time that Ron was a part of the West Haven Community House, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His warm spirit, bright smile, and kind heart made him a true joy to support. Ron touched the lives of so many, and his presence brought light and positivity wherever he went.  He will be deeply missed and remembered as an important part of the West Haven Community House family. We are certain that if Ron could, he would want to express his heartfelt gratitude to the many staff members who supported and encouraged him along the way — especially those from his SMILE Program and his Wood Street home. Ron’s memory will continue to inspire all of us who had the honor of supporting him.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday April 29, 2025, from 10:00a-11:30a at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, with a life celebration to be held at 11:00am.  Interment will be private. Instead of flowers, individuals can donate to the West Haven Community House Endowment Fund in memory of Ronald Barrows Community Connections Fund at 227 Elm Street, West Haven, CT 06516.
