Rose Marie (“Babe” or “Rosie”) Hubon, 92, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in New Haven, CT on November 28, 1932, to the late John and Catherine (D’Orso) Torino. Rose was the loving wife and soulmate to Charles J. Hubon (deceased). She is survived by her children, Janet (Scott) Stratton, Loraine (Gary) Bennard, Colleen Spaziani, and her foster son Vincent DeLucia. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Mallory, Cameron, and Mackenzie Stratton; Brianna (Fabrizio Volpe), Tyler, and Jenna Bennard; and Americo Spaziani. Rose was predeceased by her infant son, Charles Francis Hubon, and eight brothers and two sisters.
Rose truly cherished life and the time spent with her family. Always smiling and laughing, her presence brought warmth to every room. She had a special gift for making others feel welcomed and loved, often through her cooking, especially at large family gatherings where the table was always full. Rosie's homemade cookies and guantos (“ewand”) were a staple during the holidays and special occasions, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of all who shared them. She also enjoyed crocheting cozy blankets, weekly Bingo, assembling puzzles, and finding joy in everyday blessings. Rose will be dearly missed. We are grateful we have so many wonderful memories to cherish.
Family and friends may call on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A parlor service will then commence at 11 a.m. immediately followed by interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or Smile Train, www.smiletrain.org, in her honor.
