Rose “Peanut” (St. John) DiPlacito passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99½. Born on April 2, 1926, in New Haven, Connecticut, she was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ralph and Viola St. John; sister Judi Sciarra; beloved husband John DiPlacito; and son-in-law Wayne Capone.
Peanut was feisty and opinionated, and never one to shy away from the spotlight. She loved to cook, travel, care for others, and to be the heart of every room she entered. Known for her bold personality and deep generosity, she left a lasting impression wherever she went. One of her signature stories — taking the bus to the local casino and handing out candy to fellow passengers — captures the joy and spirit she brought to everyday life.
Everyone who knew Peanut has a story to tell, and in the days ahead, those memories will bring comfort, laughter, and a reminder of how truly special she was.
Peanut loved her family fiercely. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Karen Capone; three beloved grandchildren: Sarah (Travis) Capone, Ashley (Chris) Capone, and Zachary Capone; and three cherished great-grandchildren who brought light and happiness to her later years: Lily “Lucky Penny” McCarter, Ella “Little One” McCarter, and Ian “John-John” McCarter.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her dedicated aide, Debbie Wendland, whose care, presence, and patience were a great comfort in recent years. A special "thank you" also goes to the compassionate staff at Seacrest, who cared for Peanut with kindness and love in her final months. Your support meant the world to us.
On Thursday, October 16, 2025, all are invited to attend a graveside service in Oak Grove Cemetery at 11:30 am.
