Rosemary Lague Obituary

Rosemary Gorman Lague of West Haven passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on October 25, 2023. She was the loving wife of Thomas E. Lague. Rosemary was born in Derby, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Skibo Gorman. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Frances and Barbara Gorman, her brother-law Robert (Lucille) Lague, sister-in-law Elinore Canterbury, as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Charles Gorman.

Rosemary was a deeply spiritual and loving person. She loved God and family, and was kind and generous to everyone, even strangers to her. Before her illness, Rosemay wrote numerous cards and notes to many people with words of support, congratulations, and good wishes. She loved children and they responded warmly to her.

Rosemary was an English teacher who enjoyed her career tremendously. She taught at the elementary, high school and college levels. Rosemary began her career at St. Mary's School in Lee, Massachusetts. As a Sister of St. Joseph of Chambery, she taught in Catholic schools in Connecticut throughout the rest of her career. Rosemary completed her teaching years at Sacred Heart University, working in both the English and International Student programs.

Rosemary also spent many hours volunteering as a tutor at the former Our Lady of Victory School, and with the reading program for children at Yale New Haven Childrens Hospital. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. John Vianney Church.

The hours for visitation will be held on Friday, Nov 3rd, from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. On Saturday, Nov. 4th, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII Parish at 11am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital Fund - www.givetoynhh.org.
