Sandra "Sandy" Reynolds Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Emma Reynolds, 77, of West Haven passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Charles A. Reynolds. Sandy was born in New Haven on August 10th, 1943, to the late Thomas and Marie Taylor.

Sandy was best known for her generosity, humor, passion, strength, and immaculate clothing style (with lots of sparkles). Sandy cherished her time with family and friends, especially when vacationing at her second home in Clearwater, Florida. She also enjoyed hosting parties, decorating her home for every holiday occasion, floating in her pool with a cocktail in hand, playing poker (and winning), and tending to her summer flowers.  Her greatest joy were her husband, children and grandchildren.  Over the years she made wonderful friends -from her childhood friends, many valued friends through West Haven youth sports, and numerous neighbors.  She always made sure her house was the life of the party, and where all the neighbors and kids would gather. Later in life she took great joy in her grandchildren, watching them all grow up, play sports, perform on stage, and each excel in school. Sandy was the center of her family and will be deeply missed.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband “Chuck” of the past 59 years, her children and their spouses, Michael (Susan) Reynolds of Guilford, Kelly (David) Nowak of West Haven, Marc (Kim) Reynolds of Oxford, and Stacy (Tony) Sutton of Milford. She also leaves behind her nine cherished grandchildren: Jessica, Charlie, & Julie Reynolds; Taylor & Grace Nowak; Emma & Ryan Reynolds; and Samantha & Madeline Sutton. Sandy was predeceased by her four siblings and their spouses, Alice (William) Bellmore, Edward (Jean) Taylor, Madeline (Stewart) Brown, and Robert (Barbara) Taylor. The family is gathered once again, and boy, there must be one heck of a poker game being played in Heaven!

A gathering in celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at West Haven Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10:00am on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 300 Capt. Thomas Blvd., West Haven.  Entombment will immediately follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy’s name may be made to CT Hospice.
