Selena Gural, 28, of West Haven passed away on March 24, 2026.Born in Yale-New Haven Hospital on March 21, 1998, a twin daughter of Tammie Gural and Ebenezer Diaz, from the very beginning she brought a bright and creative energy into the world. She grew up in West Haven, where some of her happiest memories were made at the local parks and along the beaches where she loved to be and where she felt most like herself.
Selena attended Savin Rock Elementary School, Bailey Middle School, and West Haven High School. From a young age, she loved to color and draw, often expressing herself through her creativity. As she grew older, that love blossomed into a passion for music. She found comfort and joy in singing and playing the guitar, using music as another way to share her heart with others. Selena had a deep love for independence and was proud to build a life on her own. She embraced that chapter fully, while still remaining the same caring and giving person she had always been. She had a way of making space for others—whether it was offering someone a place to stay, sharing a meal, or simply being there when someone needed support. Her compassion was one of her most defining qualities. She gave so freely without ever asking for anything in return. Recently, Selena found joy in cooking and was excited about learning new recipes and creating meals. Even in this, she carried her thoughtful nature, wanting to share what she made with others and bring people together. Above all, Selena will be remembered for her big heart, her creativity, and the love she poured into the people around her. She touched many lives simply by being herself.
In addition to her loving mother, Tammie Gural and father, Ebenezer Diaz, Selena leaves her twin sister, Sara Gural, additional siblings Alicia Burlock, Amanda Diaz, Bobby Diaz and Brandon Diaz; grandmother Marylou Gural; aunt, Sephora Diaz; and cherished niece, Malia Rivera, who she loved more than words can express. She was predeceased by her maternal great-grandmother, Josephine Salvati.
Selena’s memory will live on in the laughter she shared, the love she gave, and the lives she touched.
