In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Fox
Shirley Ann Fox, born in 1928, peacefully passed away in her sleep on October 12, 2023, at 4 a.m. on the East Coast. She was the cherished middle daughter of Walter and Josephine Klingler and was preceded in death by her older sister, Muriel, and younger sister, Marilyn. Shirley spent her formative years in Fairfield, Connecticut, and graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School. She was an accomplished golfer, achieving recognition at the state level in Connecticut. It was on the greens of Mill River Country Club that she crossed paths with her beloved husband, Auran, and they joined in matrimony in 1956. Shirley is survived by her loving direct family, including her three sons: Curt, Keith, and Craig. She leaves behind daughters-in-law Peggy and Pamela, four cherished grandchildren: Brian, Laura, Katelyn, and Jillian, and one great-grandchild, Bennett. Shirley’s warmth extended beyond her immediate family, as she is also survived by her dear extended family, including nephews Scott and Mark Butterworth, nieces Joanne Nelson, Jennifer Nelson, and Margaret Fox.
An accomplished self-taught artist, Shirley found immense joy in painting. Her talents were not only a source of personal pleasure but also a means to give back to the community. She generously donated her time, talent, and paintings to those she encountered throughout her lifetime. Shirley’s lively spirit shone through in her ability to tell a good joke, making her a true pleasure to be around. Her laughter and love brightened the lives of all who knew her.
In accordance with her wishes, Shirley will be cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday October 21 at 11 am, in St. Aedan Church to honor and remember this extraordinary woman. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at https://t2t.org in honor of Shirley Fox.
Shirley Fox will forever be in our hearts, and her memory will continue to inspire us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
