Spiros Sinanis, 80, of West Haven, died on October 4, 2024. Born in Nafpaktos, Greece on August 24, 1944, a son of Maria Sinanis. Spiros is survived by his children Jimmy (Fabiana) Sinanis, Carol Sinanis, Mariana (Harry) Kazakos, and Kristen Sinanis; grandchildren Ashley Sinanis, John Sinanis, George Spiros Kazakos, and Dina Maria Kazakos; sister Loula Sinanis; sister-in-law Helen Sinanis; niece Maria Sinanis Gatanas; and nephew Spiro Sinanis. In addition to his parents, Spiros was preceded in death by siblings Koula Dimitriades and George Sinanis.
Spiros was a lively storyteller and enjoyed sharing stories of his childhood in Greece. Although he lost his father at a young age, he had a tight bond with his mother and siblings. Spiros often told loved ones that he never liked school and was a bit of a “troublemaker.” Through his adult years, Spiros turned his fondness for food into a cooking career at local diners. He was a passionate sports fan who especially enjoyed cheering for his favorite Greek Soccer Team, Olympiakos.
Calling hours will be held at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green on Wednesday, October 9 from nine until ten o’clock, at which time his funeral procession will proceed to St. Michael’s Cemetery, 7202 Astoria Blvd. S., East Elmhurst, NY, for interment at 1 o'clock.
