Virginia “Jean” Slavin, age 98, of West Haven passed away on May 14, 2023. She was born in New Haven, daughter of the late George and Louise Ricci D’Alessio. Jean is survived by her sons, Allan DeCaprio and his wife Rosanne of Branford and Anthony DeCaprio and his wife Christine of Ft. Myers, FL, her son-in-law Christopher Pabst, her 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her first husband Modestino “Albert” DeCaprio and her second husband Harold Slavin, her daughter Eloise Pabst, and her siblings Mary Cretella, George, Michael, William, Alfred, and Roland D’Alessio.
For many years Jean was involved with the American Legion and ran bingo at the VFW for the blind. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the St. Theresa Guild. Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed her career working in retail for Metcalf’s Drug Store and AM Discount Store.
Jean’s family would like to thank the staff at Branford Hill Health Care, for all their care, compassion and support these past few years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday May 27, 2023, at 10am in St Therese Church, St Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish 555 Middletown Ave. North Haven, CT. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no hours for visitation. West Haven Funeral Home at the Green has been entrusted with arrangements.
