It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Wayne A. Capone on January 26, 2024. Wayne leaves behind his angel of 46 years, Karen DiPlacito Capone, children Sarah (Travis McCarter) Capone, Ashley (Christopher Nugent) Capone and Zachary Capone, and his beloved grandchildren Lily, Ella V. and Ian who were his everything. He also leaves behind his sister Bonnie (Michael) Rivas. He was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Janet Stowe Capone.
In 1982, Wayne and Karen opened Stowe’s Seafood in the Savin Rock area of West Haven, where after 42 years, the landmark business continues to serve its faithful customers. Wayne looked forward to working everyday with his “crew” who were part of his family. When he took a break from Stowe’s, Wayne enjoyed spending time in the Caribbean, thus the pirate theme depicted at Stowe’s, filled with treasures from his travels. Wayne loved his family unconditionally and he will be forever missed. His family is grateful for the compassionate care given to him and to them, a special thank you to Dr. Lacey, Sue Hotchkiss and the nurses on 5-5, East Pavilion.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 31 from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. There are no other services planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
