It is with profound sadness that we, the loving family of Wayne M. Hamilton Sr., announce his sudden passing on January 3, 2022. At the time of his death, Wayne was spending the holidays in North Carolina, with his loving wife of 25 years, Rosemarie Maksimowicz and step daughter Rosemarie Rakowski.
Born to a military family on March 9, 1960 in Camp Lejune, NC, the family moved to Louisiana when Wayne was a young child. He was on the wrestling team and played football at Bonnabel High School in Kenner, LA. and joined the Air Force through ROTC. Wayne also studied at UNH. An adventurous sort, Wayne found great pleasure in salmon fishing in Pulaski, NY, hiking Mt. Katahdin at Baxter State Park in Maine, mountain biking and riding his Harley. He looked forward to attending bike rallies around the country. Locally, he was team captain of his pool league and a proud member of the Umberto Club of New Haven. By trade Wayne was a mechanic and contractor. He retired from Petra co. In North Haven. In addition to Rosie and Rosemarie, Wayne leaves behind two daughters Brittany Hamilton, Kaileigh M. Patricelli; a son Travis Hamilton; stepdaughter Diana L. Rakowski, cherished grandchildren Vincent and Jason Hamilton, Cecelia and Lianna Nieves, his brother Roy (Susan) Hamilton, 3 nephews Roy Jr. (Chelsea), Tommy (Alyssa), Bryan (Victoria) and a niece Becca. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Louise (Lamb) Hamilton, his son Wayne Jr. and a brother Mark.
Visitation will take place on Saturday January 15, 2022 from noon to 3pm at the West Haven Funeral Home. To honor Wayne, please dress in biker attire and arrive on your motorcycle. In lieu of flowers, donations towards expenses will be accepted at the funeral home.
