William Conrad Bode

William Conrad Bode passed away peacefully on September 26th, 2022, after a long and brave battle with Parkinson’s. He was the beloved husband of Frances I. Bode. Born in New Haven in 1946, Bill was a son of the late William and Harriet Bode. He graduated from West Haven High School and served his country honorably as a boilerman in the US Navy. His service included two tours in Vietnam on the Destroyer Charles P. Cecil.

After the war Bill transitioned his work to HVAC systems which would become his lifetime profession. Eventually he gained a position with Honeywell. Bill moved to Colorado where he met and married Fran. After several years with Honeywell, Bill opened his own business, The Bode Group, which he operated until he retired. Bill’s happiest times were at home working in his impressive garden or barbecuing on his patio. He loved spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren. Once he became a grandparent Bill was simply known as “Pa”. Bill and Fran enjoyed traveling. His favorite trip was to Ireland and Scotland, which inspired them to get their much-loved Australian Shepard Abby.

In addition to his wife Fran, Bill leaves children Alecia (Doug) Hindman, Victoria (Peter) Berry, Barbara (Joseph) Freeman, grandchildren Dougie, Faith, and Steven Hindman, Marissa and Cooper Berry, Jordan Bushnell (Olivia Pezzello), great grandchild Troy Bushnell and his siblings Marilyn (Robert Bates) Ferguson, John (Joan) Bode, James (Lynda Pantalena) Bode, Kenneth (Curley) Bode and Joseph (Carol Fernino) Bode. In addition to his parents, Bill’s sister Karen Sperry and former wife Rose Dunlap predecease him.
