William Joseph Regan, Jr., of Milford, Connecticut, died on Saturday, December 9, after a long illness. Among those left behind to cherish Bill’s memory are his sons, William J. Regan III of Shelton, Michael T. Regan (Katie) of Seymour; grandchildren Jacqueline, Ian, Quinn, and Penelope; his brother, John Regan of North Carolina, former spouse Jacqueline Regan, many nieces, nephews, and among many friends, Kim Morawski and Dorothy “Dede” Fitch, who were so helpful in assisting with Bill’s care. Born in Burlington, VT., on June 26, 1943, Bill was predeceased by his parents, William J. and Pauline Curtiss Regan, his sister Pauline “Polly” Belinsky, his brother James Regan and his faithful pug, Tucker.
Bill’s family moved to the Point Beach area of Milford, Connecticut in 1956. After graduating Milford High School, Bill joined the Army National Guard. He worked as a grocer for many years at several area markets including First National, Grand Union, Waldbaum’s. He retired from A&P in 2011.
In retirement, Bill enjoyed gardening, attending auctions and visiting Vermont to see his aunts and cousins. Always up for a road trip, he would shop for antiques and visit country fairs, The Big E was his favorite. On CT. Day, he looked forward to grabbing a turkey leg to nibble on, while taking in the sights. Bill was a hard worker who did many odd jobs for neighbors, friends and co-workers. He always brought Bill and Mike along to teach them the value of hard work. Through “osmosis” those values were certainly passed along. Bill was friendly with all, except if you were driving incorrectly.
Visitation will take place on Sunday December 17, 2023 from 3 to 6 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, with a service beginning at 5:30. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Pug Rescue of New England.
